INDUSTRY AND OCCUPATION
Industry
All business entities are assigned to a particular industry based on the main activity of the business.
The industry is classified according to the Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC, 2006) Revision 1.0 (cat. no. 1292.0).
The most common industries in which Indigenous people were employed were similar to that of non-Indigenous people, although of differing proportions.

Indigenous females were most likely to be employed in Health Care and Social Assistance (21%), Public Administration and Safety (16%), Education and Training (13%) and Retail Trade (10%).
The composition was different for Indigenous males, who were most likely to be employed in Public Administration and Safety (18%) followed by Construction (12%), Manufacturing (11%) and Health Care and Social Assistance (8%).
