As part of its innovation and technology statistics program, the ABS collects a range of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) statistics as well as Innovation, Research & Experimental Development (R&D) and Venture Capital (VC) statistics.

The Innovation and Technology Statistics Branch provides statistical leadership, including engagement with key external clients; international contribution to standards and classifications; development of statistical infrastructure; the release of ICT, Innovation, R&D and VC statistics; and, undertakes complex analytical projects. The Innovation and Technology Statistics Branch is part of the Economic and Environment Statistics Group.
