National Early Childhood Education and Care Collection
The National Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Collection has been established to provide nationally comparable statistics on early childhood education and care (ECEC).
The National Centre for Education and Training Statistics (NCETS) is currently working with education departments to collect and process ECEC data from the Commonwealth and each state and territory. The standards and classifications for this data collection have been developed in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).
The National ECEC Collection is a data development activity under the National Partnership Agreement on Early Childhood Education.
Reference period: The National ECEC Collection is conducted in the first week of August each year, to coincide with the National Schools Statistical Collection.
