2012-13 Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey: Release Schedule

RELEASE SCHEDULE

Released Products

Results from the 2012–13 Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (AATSIHS) are being released progressively. The First Results publication, released on 27 November, 2013, contained information on health risk factors (such as tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, overweight and obesity, and daily fruit and vegetable intake); long-term health conditions; measured blood pressure and use of health services. These data were from the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSIHS) component of the AATSIHS which surveyed around 9,300 respondents. See Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey: First Results, 2012-13 (cat. no. 4727.0.55.001) for more information.

The Updated Results publication, released on 6 June, 2014, presented information on selected health risk factors (such as tobacco smoking, overweight and obesity, and daily fruit and vegetable intake); selected long-term health conditions (diabetes/high blood sugar, heart disease and kidney disease) and measured blood pressure. These data were from the NATSIHS and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey (NATSINPAS) — a combined sample of around 12,900 respondents, which may provide more accurate estimates for these indicators. See Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey: Updated Results, 2012-13 (cat. no. 4727.0.55.006) for more information.

The Biomedical Results publication presents information on biomarkers of chronic disease and nutrition (including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic kidney function, vitamin D, iron and iodine). These data were from the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Measures Survey (NATSIHMS) which surveyed around 3,300 respondents.

Future Releases

More detailed information on physical activity from the NATSINPAS will be released later in 2014. Information on food intake, nutrition and dietary supplements from the NATSINPAS will be released in the first half of 2015.
