| Background
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Demographic Statistics Expert Advisory Group was created in response to a recommendation from the Australian Bureau of Statistics Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Demographic Statistics Stakeholder Consultation Review, which was undertaken from December 2010 to July 2011.
The Advisory Group is a key consultative forum providing technical advice and guidance on methodological issues relating to the ABS program of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander demographic statistics (including population estimates, population projections and fertility and mortality measures). The group also advises the ABS on communication and engagement strategies.
The objective of the Advisory Group is to maximise the relevance, quality, knowledge and usefulness of selected national and sub-national demographic statistics compiled and released by the ABS. Please see the Terms of Reference for more information.
