- 5497.0.55.001 Information Paper: Request to Confidentialise International Trade Data, 2001 – This paper explains the relevant legislation under which some international trade statistics are suppressed for confidentiality reasons. Information is also provided on how an entity may register an objection to the disclosure of its data and how such objections are handled by the ABS.

- 5499.0.55.001 Information Paper: International Trade Classification Feasibility Studies, 2001 – This paper provides details on the statistical codes added by the ABS to reflect statistical requirements. Information on how the statistical codes are maintained by the ABS and how to request changes to commodity information are included.
Time Series Tables
The ABS website provides a facility for disseminating data electronically. All spreadsheets are available to be downloaded for free. The facility holds a long time series of data which can be accessed in a variety of table and spreadsheet formats. The links below take you to international merchandise trade data available from Time Series Spreadsheets. After accessing the link, select the Downloads tab.

Customised Data
In addition to the data included in the standard publications, more detailed information on Australia's exports and imports is also available. Data can be provided in a number of formats such as spreadsheets, databases or paper reports.
Value and quantity data for exports and imports can be produced for the following classifications:
- Commodity (available at various levels of detail using HS, SITC, ANZSIC and BEC)
- Country of origin/destination
- State/Territory of origin/destination
- Mode of transport
- Port of loading / discharge

International Trade Subscription Service
The International Trade Subscription Service provides regular reports for the goods of interest to you. Subscription reports can be provided at monthly, quarterly or annual intervals. Subscribers use the data in market analysis and as an indicator of trade trends for particular market segments, products, seasonal demand, and prices.
There are three main advantages in subscribing to the Trade Subscription Service:
- Cost: subscribing is cost effective as it can be amortised over a financial year period offering savings when compared to irregular ad hoc requests
- Timeliness: new data is sent to you on the day of release from 11.30am
- Updates: subscribers receive revisions and updates for free, it's all part of the service
Country Partner Statistics
The ABS maintains close relationships with a number of national statistical agencies in developed countries. These relations, particularly the opportunities for sharing experiences on the latest technologies and developments that are generated through them, are valuable to the ABS. The ABS has provided some analysis of trade with particular countries. The ABS has also undertaken bilateral reconciliations of trade data with a number of agencies.
