|Using data for Statistical Local Areas|
Some ABS releases use Statistical Local Areas (SLA). The SLA is a general purpose spatial unit used to collect and disseminate statistics. SLAs are based on the boundaries of incorporated bodies of local government where they exist. Where there is no incorporated body of local government, SLAs are defined to cover the unincorporated areas.
One or more Statistical Local Areas form each Local Government Area, and so some data at SLA level can be aggregated to Local Government Areas. To see which SLAs make up your Local Government Area, look up your Local Government Area in:
Australian Standard Geographical Classification (cat. no. 1216.0)
A list of Local Government Areas and Statistical Local Areas is in Chapter 15. Alternatively, download the Excel data cube titled "Local Government Areas and Statistical Local Areas - Alphabetic'
