In response to user demand for a facility to aid customised table requests, the Census Table Specification Service (CTSS) has been developed to allow users to design their own customised tables at convenient times. The service is restricted to the manipulation of data descriptions in table shells and is not intended to generate data values on-line.
The software provides functionality which includes an indicative costing facility that is updated as specifications are developed or changed. Table specifications can then be forwarded to the ABS via an email attachment for inserting data values in the table shell and validating results. Users will be asked to confirm the final specifications and will be advised of final costs before the tables are run.
The recommended method of installation of the CTSS software is from the updated CD-Rom (CTSS Release 2), which includes more comprehensive geographical classifications. Please email: census2001@abs.gov.au with your postal address details and a free copy will be sent to you. Availability of the web download software for CTSS has been delayed temporarily and will not be available until mid-2002.
An earlier version of CTSS is available from the Census Guide CD-Rom. The Census Guide CD-Rom is a free reference product that contains information about 2001 products and services and is an essential reference tool for informed use of census data. If you require a copy of the Census Guide call 1800 813 939 or visit your local ABS Bookshop. Please be aware that the CTSS software on this CD-Rom is not the most recent version available.
