1. DATA ANALYSTS STREAM

2. METHODOLOGY STREAM

Our Methodology Division provides expertise in statistical methodology to support the statistical production process such as: survey design, sampling and estimation methods, data linking, analysis and safe data access methods, statistical risk management and quality control.

3. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) STREAM

Our Technology Services Division provides services to develop applications and support/ manage the statistical and corporate technology needs of the ABS, including the ABS Statistical Business Transformation Program.

4. DATA ACQUISITION STREAM

The National Data Acquisition Centre (NDAC), located in Geelong, Victoria, is responsible for the ABS’s national data acquisition program that collects and transforms data from households and both private and public sector organisations. NDAC operates as a centre of excellence and national management hub ensuring that the ABS’s data acquisition program utilises best practice data acquisition methods and approaches across survey and administrative data collection channels.

Why should I apply for this stream of the ABS Graduate Development Program?

NDAC offers a diverse work program that provides opportunities for staff to develop skills and experience across disciplines. NDAC staff work across the areas of project management, field logistics and people management, more technically focussed roles where skills in information technology and survey instrument design are valued and in data transformation roles where capabilities in data science, statistics, econometrics and similar fields are sought after.

Potential graduates may be surprised that NDAC graduate roles can involve the leading and coaching of staff and have significant levels of autonomy and responsibility as compared to other graduate positions. NDAC also operates in a modern activity based and flexible working environment.
