1. STATISTICAL ANALYSIS AND RESEARCH STREAM

The Statistical Analysis and Research stream attracts graduates from a wide range of disciplines such as: Business, Commerce, Demography, Economics, Finance, Geography, Humanities, Psychology, Social Sciences.

2. METHODOLOGY STREAM

Our Methodology Division provides expertise in statistical methodology to support the statistical production process such as: survey design, sampling and estimation methods, data linking, analysis and safe data access methods, statistical risk management and quality control.

Our Methodology stream is for graduates who want to apply their methodological skills in an agency well renowned for its statistical methods and application.

Areas of study

Suitable degrees for the Methodology stream include Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics or related fields (often at the Honours level).

3. INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) STREAM

Our Technology Services Division provides services to develop applications and support/ manage the statistical and corporate technology needs of the ABS, including the ABS Statistical Business Transformation Program.

Our ICT stream is for graduates who are passionate about applying and broadening their ICT skills in an agency undergoing major transformation.

Areas of study

Suitable degrees for the ICT stream include: Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information and Communications Technology, Infrastructure Design and Support, Project Management, Web Design and Development, Business Analysis or Informatics.

4. CORPORATE STREAM

The Corporate stream is an Affirmative Measure stream, open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander graduates only and located in our Canberra office.

Why should I apply for this stream of the ABS Graduate Development Program?

The Corporate stream includes a diverse work program and is expected to consist of four roles in areas such as 2021 Census, Finance, Risk, Legislation and Policy, or Human Resources. This stream is only available to affirmative measures applicants.

Areas of study

Suitable degrees for this stream are varied, and include finance, policy, law, human resources, industrial relations, humanities, social sciences.
