Hello and welcome to the Australian Bureau of Statistics guide to ‘ABS Resources for Teachers’. The following tutorials aim to help teachers find ABS data and introduce them to a range of relevant products, available free from the ABS website. As you may already know, all data on the ABS website is available free of charge and the amount of free ABS data is constantly increasing. The following tutorial topics will cover a selected range of ABS data often sought by teachers and students.

Welcome to the Census modules. The Census of Population and Housing runs every 5 years and provides the most detailed data available from the ABS. The tutorials in this segment will demonstrate four of the Census products available free from the ABS website. They are easy to use for students and provide meaningful analytical opportunities. For senior high school and tertiary students, more complex Census products such as CDATA and SEIFA are available. These are not covered in the following tutorials but further information about these products is available on the ABS website.
