OVERVIEW

Form 45: Purpose of this form is to identify possible in-scope units for inclusion in the Survey of International Trade in Services.

Form 60: Purpose of this form is to update corporate structure information relating to units selected for inclusion in the September quarter International Investment frame on an annual basis.

Form 61: Purpose of this form is to identify possible in-scope units for inclusion in the Survey of International Investment.

Form 62: Purpose of this form is to benchmark those units in the unselected portion of the International Investment frame on a 3 year rotational basis.


PURPOSE
Maintain adequate collection frames to ensure the collection of data in the SII and SITS surveys.

SCOPE


It is not practical to give all economic entities in the Australian economy a chance of selection in the Survey of International Investment or Survey of International Trade in Services, since many will not have any international activity.

Instead, the coverage of the surveys is all Australian enterprise groups which are known to have relevant international activity. This is defined in terms of frames created and managed by the IFAB Frames Management Unit.

Main outputs

Results used to enhance the International Investment and International Trade in Services quarterly frames. This is important as the SITS and SII frames currently consist of approximately 1100 units and this change in population impact on their output is significant.

Frequency comments
This CMS entry is to be used to combine all frames management surveys which support the Survey of International Investment and the Survey of Trade in Services.

There will be 6 forms despatched. Four will be quarterly and 2 annually.

COLLECTION HISTORY
Prior to this collection there were two separate collections: IFAB Frames Maintenance (International Trade in Services, Survey of) and IFAB Frames Maintenance (Internatiional Investment, Survey of). Previous to that the forms were part of the suite of forms making up the Survey of International Trade in Services and the Survey of International Investment respectively. The only addition to this collection is the Form 64 which will be intiially used in February 2005 during the SITS major coverage exercise to collect information on both Services and International Investment activity by potential units.
