    Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS)

The Queensland State Supplementary survey was at the request of the Queensland Treasury and the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation to collect information on both overseas and interstate visits to Queensland, ond on interstate visits by Queenslanders.

The major use of the information collected will be to assist the Queensland Government in estimating the contribution of tourism to the State and its regions. Currently no accurate data are available on visitor nights spent by overseas or interstate visitors in Queensland households by region.

The Queensland Treasury will use the data to enhance their ability to monitor and to develop policies in relation to tourism within the state.
