SEPTEMBER QUARTER 2007 GFS RELEASE

This release presents quarterly government finance statistics (GFS) on an accrual accounting basis. All tables are presented in GFS operating statement format and are for the general government sector, with the exception of Table 2 which presents data for the public non-financial corporations sector.

In the September quarter, data are presented for the quarters of the previous financial year in addition to that for the current quarter. No September 2007 quarter data for the individual state and territory jurisdictions are presented. It should be noted that the quarterly ABS GFS data, including that presented in this publication, are based on preliminary data provided by jurisdictions throughout the year. For this reason, the four quarters of the previous financial year will not necessarily sum to the final financial year results recently released by some jurisdictions. Final annual GFS data for 2006-07 are scheduled for release by the ABS in April 2008, in Government Finance Statistics, Australia (cat.no. 5512.0).

Users requiring data for earlier periods should consult Government Finance Statistics, Australia (cat.no. 5512.0). The latest issue (2005-06) was released on 3 April 2007.
