02/04/2008 Note: QuickStats have been reissued to correct the following errors:

  • Incorrect number in the Australia data column where 'Maori' appears as one of the top 5 responses for 'Languages Spoken at Home'.
  • Incorrect number in the Australia data column where 'Industry of Employment', 'Professional, Scientific and Technical Services' or 'Adult, Community and Other education' appears as one of the top 5 responses.
The error has now been rectified; no other QuickStat topics were affected.

QuickStats is a summary of key Census data relating to persons, families, and dwellings, and also contains a small textual description of the statistics contained within the tables. QuickStats is not inclusive of all Census topics, instead it provides a selection of general and topical information about a chosen area. The data displayed covers a range of social, economic and demographic statistics, and popular responses for a selection of variables. QuickStats also includes a benchmark feature to allow comparison with Australia. The summary produced includes variables such as age breakdowns, a selection of birthplaces, languages, religions, and employment information etc.

Quickstats allows users to select a geographic area of interest and includes Australian data which is able to be used for benchmarking purposes. Quickstats can be accessed from ABS Census Website free of charge.
