ABOUT THIS RELEASE

Replaces: 6401.0.40.001

Index numbers representing movements in retail prices of goods and services commonly purchased by private households. The goods and services are divided into the following groups: food; alcohol and tobacco; clothing and footwear; housing; household furnishings, supplies and services; health; transportation; communication; recreation; education; and miscellaneous. Within these main groups, indexes for each sub-group and expenditure class are available for each of the State capitals, Canberra and Darwin and for the weighted average of the eight capital cities. Index numbers are also shown for various special series for each of the eight capital cities and the weighted average of the eight capital cities.
