BREAK-IN

Australia had an estimated 335,700 break-in incidents in the 12 months prior to interview. Offenders stole property in 74% of the most recent break-in incidents, with the most commonly stolen items being money (19%) and jewellery (18%). In addition, property was damaged in 48% of the most recent incidents, while offenders confronted someone in 10% of these incidents.
