EMPLOYEE EARNINGS AND HOURS

Earnings of wage and salary earners by occupation is available from Employee Earning and Hours, Australia, 2006 (cat. no. 6306.0), however the information is not available at the detailed occupation level collected in the 2006 Census of Population and Housing. This survey showed that Arts professionals who worked as full-time employees (excluding those who were self-employed) worked an average of 36 hours per week and had weekly earnings of $1,171. Media professionals worked an average of 38 hours per week and received weekly earnings of $1,253. Printing tradesperson's also worked an average of 38 hours per week but had weekly earnings of $950. By comparison, all wage and salary earners worked an average of 38 hours per week with earnings totalling $989.
