TOURIST ACCOMMODATION

The vast majority of tourist accommodation establishments in the NT are hotels, motels and serviced apartments with 15 or more rooms, of which there were 97 in the December Quarter 2009, employing around 3,100 people. During 2009 these establishments recorded around 1.3 million guest arrivals, with reported takings from accommodation of $253.8 million. Of the Tourism Regions with data published for the calendar year, Darwin had the highest reported accommodation takings ($145.8 million) as well as the most guest arrivals (605,500). Alice Springs TR reported $34.2 million in takings and 228,400 guest arrivals, while Kakadu Arnhem TR reported $13.2 million in takings and 77,200 guest arrivals.
