This group covers R&D directed towards land and water management in various natural environments and ecosystems. It includes urban and industrial land and water management issues, and the allocation of water for agricultural production.
This group has fourteen objectives:

Exclusions:
a) The management of water consumption by economic activities is included in Sector B Economic Development.
b) Assessment and evaluation of environmental and natural resources, including rights to environmental and natural resources other than water for agricultural production, is included in Group 9606 Environmental and Natural Resource Evaluation.
c) The physical and chemical conditions of water are included in Group 9611 Physical and Chemical Conditions of Water.
d) Soils are included in Group 9614 Soils.
