This group covers R&D directed towards community health or the health of general public excluding specific population groups and indigenous communities. The primary focus of R&D in this group is on the social and community aspects of health and medicine.
It includes:

• community support for health and medical conditions;
• preventative medicine;
• environmental health; and
• health protection and the response of health systems to disasters.

Exclusions:
a) The causes, effects and treatment of specific clinical conditions are included in Group 9201 Clinical Health (Organs, Diseases and Abnormal Conditions).
b) Evaluation of health care programs and policies is included in Group 9202 Health and Support Services.
c) Public health of indigenous communities and specific population groups is included in Groups 9203 Indigenous Health, and 9205 Specific Population Health (excl. Indigenous Health), respectively.
d) Quarantine and control measures to prevent the entry of diseases into the country are included in Group 9604 Control of Pests, Diseases and Exotic Species.
