MONTHLY SEASONALLY ADJUSTED AND TREND ESTIMATES


NEW SOUTH WALES

There has been three months of strong trend growth following eight months of moderate growth. Household good retailing (three months), Recreational good retailing (two months) and Other retailing (six months) have had strong growth. Food retailing had moderate growth in September 2007 following two months of strong growth.

VICTORIA

There has been four months of moderate trend growth. Food retailing has had ten months of moderate growth. Clothing and soft good retailing (15 months), Household good retailing (five months) and Other retailing (three months) have had strong growth while Hospitality and services has been in decline for nine months.

QUEENSLAND

Queensland has had strong trend growth for nine months. Food retailing (12 months), Household good retailing (two months), Other retailing (six months) and Hospitality and services (eight months) have had strong growth. Department stores had moderate growth in September 2007 following four months of strong growth.

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The trend growth has been moderate for 19 months. Food retailing has had ten months of moderate growth. Clothing and soft good retailing (five months), Other retailing (three months) and Hospitality and services (eight months) have had strong growth, while the remaining three industries were in decline in September 2007.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA

There has been moderate trend growth for seven months. Food retailing had moderate growth in September 2007 following 11 months of strong growth. Department stores (five months), Clothing and soft good retailing (one month), and Recreational good retailing (four months) have had strong growth.

TASMANIA

The trend growth has been moderate in the last three months after four months of strong growth. Food retailing has had two months of moderate growth following eight months of strong trend growth. Hospitality and services has had seven months of strong growth. The trend in Household good retailing has slowed from strong growth in April 2007 to weak growth in September 2007.
