The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to February 2013.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.4% in February 2013 following a rise of 0.3% in January 2013 and a rise of 0.3% in December 2012.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover rose 1.3% in February 2013 following a rise of 1.2% in January 2013 and a fall of 0.5% in December 2012.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 10.0% in February 2013. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers fell 12.0% in February 2013. The original estimate for smaller retailers fell 6.3% in February 2013.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in February 2013: Queensland (0.6%), New South Wales (0.4%), Victoria (0.4%), Tasmania (0.6%), the Australian Capital Territory (0.4%) and the Northern Territory (0.2%). Western Australia (0.0%) remained relatively unchanged. South Australia (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in February 2013.

The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2013: New South Wales (1.4%), Queensland (1.9%), Victoria (1.1%), Western Australia (1.8%) and the Australian Capital Territory (2.6%). South Australia (-0.4%), the Northern Territory (-1.4%) and Tasmania (-0.6%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in February 2013.
