The chart below shows the trend series and seasonally adjusted series to April 2011.

In current prices, the trend estimate for Australian turnover rose 0.4% in April 2011 following a rise of 0.4% in March 2011 and a rise of 0.3% February 2011.

The seasonally adjusted estimate for Australian turnover rose 1.1% in April 2011 following a fall of 0.3% in March 2011 and a rise of 1.0% in February 2011.

The original estimate for Australian turnover fell 0.5% in April 2011. The original estimate for chains and other larger retailers rose 0.3% in April 2011. The original estimate for smaller retailers fell 2.0% in April 2011.

TOTAL RETAIL - BY STATE

The following states and territories rose in trend terms in April 2011: Victoria (0.5%), Queensland (0.5%), Western Australia (0.8%), New South Wales (0.2%), South Australia (0.2%) and the Northern Territory (1.2%). The Australian Capital Territory (-0.2%) and Tasmania (-0.2%) fell in trend terms in April 2011.

The following states and territories rose in seasonally adjusted terms in April 2011: Victoria (2.8%), Queensland (1.8%), Western Australia (0.6%), New South Wales (0.1%) and Tasmania (0.5%). South Australia (-0.4%), the Australian Capital Territory (-0.6%) and the Northern Territory (-0.8%) fell in seasonally adjusted terms in April 2011.
