Presents statistics on the incidence of innovation in Australian businesses and characteristics of innovators. Data presented include: types of innovation; barriers to and drivers of innovation; collaboration; sources of ideas; and, skills used and skills shortages experienced for innovative purposes. Statistics are classified by Australian and New Zealand Standard Industry Classification 2006 and business size based upon employment. Innovation data are collected via the Business Characteristics Survey. Detailed innovation data are collected bienially with core indicators available in the alternate year.
