STOCKS AND USE OF BARLEY AND SELECTED OTHER GRAINS AND PULSES

In June 2010, there were 645 thousand tonnes of barley stored by wheat users in Australia, a decrease of 404 thousand tonnes from the March 2010 quarter. New South Wales wheat users held the greatest amount of barley in June 2010, storing 246 thousand tonnes, followed by Victoria with 234 thousand tonnes.

There were 423 thousand tonnes of selected other grains and pulses stored by wheat users in Australia in June 2010, a decrease of 277 thousand tonnes from March 2010. Wheat users in New South Wales held the greatest amount, storing 154 thousand tonnes, followed by Victoria with 101 thousand tonnes.

Wheat users in Australia used 453 thousand tonnes of barley in the June quarter of 2010. Victorian wheat users recorded the highest use of barley at 174 thousand tonnes, followed by South Australia with 92 thousand tonnes.

Australian wheat users consumed 232 thousand tonnes of selected other grains and pulses in the June quarter of 2010, remaining steady from March 2010. Queensland recorded the highest use of selected other grains and pulses at 87 thousand tonnes in June 2010, followed by New South Wales with 68 thousand tonnes.
