The trend estimate of unemployed males generally fell from 430,800 in June 1998 to 341,900 in August 2000, before rising to 391,500 in September 2001. The trend estimate then generally fell to 234,400 in July 2007, before generally rising to 244,900 in June 2008.

MALES LOOKING FOR FULL-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of males looking for full-time work decreased from 380,700 in June 1998 to 287,800 in July 2000. The trend then rose to 327,600 in October 2001, before generally falling to 180,400 in July 2007. The trend has since risen to stand at 190,600 in June 2008.

MALES LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of unemployed males looking for part-time work has fluctuated over the last 10 years, from 50,100 in June 1998 to a high of 65,700 in October 2002. The trend estimate now stands at 54,300 in June 2008.

The trend estimate of unemployed females fell from 297,500 in June 1998 to 239,600 in September 2000, before rising to 289,500 in October 2001. Since then, the trend estimate has generally fallen to stand at 229,400 in June 2008.

The trend estimate of females looking for full-time work fell from 208,700 in June 1998 to 152,500 in September 2000. The trend estimate then rose to 187,300 in October 2001, before generally falling to stand at 131,200 in June 2008.

FEMALES LOOKING FOR PART-TIME WORK

The trend estimate of unemployed females looking for part-time work has fluctuated over the last 10 years, from 88,800 in June 1998 to a high of 109,400 in April 2001. The trend estimate now stands at 98,100 in June 2008.
