The National Schools Statistics Collection (NSSC)

Data from the National Schools Statistics Collection (NSSC) are published through Schools, Australia (cat. no. 4221.0). Data for the 2011 reference period were published in February and April 2012.

This year following feedback from education stakeholders we have worked to improve the availability of data for national reporting. We will progressively release an increased range of tables and data cubes in Schools, Australia. While these data were previously available on demand as a customised request, this initiative should reduce the burden on other data providers, simplify data collection for agencies tasked with national reporting and improve the suite of information publically available from the NSSC. There may be further small additions to the range of 2011 data during 2012 and, in consultation with education stakeholders, we aim to continue to increase data availability in the coming years.

Some categories and naming conventions used in national reporting have now been incorporated into tables and data cubes, where they are compatible with ABS publication standards.

We continue to work closely with state and territory education departments and DEEWR to improve the underlying NSSC dataset.

The data published through the National Schools Statistics Collection can be found in the latest issue of Schools, Australia (cat. no. 4221.0)
