Overweight and Obesity in Adults, Australia, 2004-05 (cat no. 4719.0)

Presents information about adults who were classified as being overweight or obese in the 2004-05 National Health Survey (NHS), and compares this to results from previous surveys in 1989-90, 1995 and 2001. Includes information on weight for persons aged 18–24 years.

Census of Population and Housing: Working Population Profile, 2006 (cat no. 2006.0)

The Working Population Profile (WPP) contains 22 tables of key Census characteristics of employed persons.

Schools, Australia, 2007 (cat no. 4221.0)

Contains statistics on government and non-government schools, students and staff. In this issue a new indicator measure has been introduced. The Apparent Continuation Rate (ACR) describes the rate at which particular age cohorts are continuing in school education between one year and the next.

Year Book Australia, 2008 (cat no. 1301.0)

Provides a comprehensive statistical picture of the economy and social conditions in Australia. It also contains descriptive matter dealing with Australia’s geography and climate, its population, the environment, government, international relations, defence, education, health, income and welfare, housing and crime and justice.

How Australians Use Their Time, 2006 (cat no. 4153.0)

Time use surveys collect detailed information on the daily activity patterns of people in Australia. The survey was conducted across all States and Territories and collected information from people aged 15 years and over.

Sports and Physical Recreation: A Statistical Overview, Australia, 2008 (Edition 1) (cat no. 4156.0)

Provides a statistical overview of sports and physical recreation in Australia. Includes time series information on participation of children aged 5-14 years in organised sport outside school hours and participation of persons aged 15-24 years in physical activities, recreation and sport as players.

Population Characteristics, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, 2006 (cat no. 4713.0)

Presents a range of statistics for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (Indigenous) population of Australia using results of the 2006 Census of Population and Housing. Estimates of the resident Indigenous population of Australia, and a discussion of issues affecting Indigenous population data are also included.

Persons Not in the Labour Force, Australia, Sep 2007 (cat no. 6220.0)

This publication presents information about people aged 15 years and over who are not in the labour force: that is, neither employed nor unemployed. The data measure the potential supply of labour not reflected in employment and unemployment statistics, and measure the characteristics of that potential supply.

Australian Demographic Statistics, Sep 2007 (cat no. 3101.0)

Quarterly estimates of total population for states, territories and Australia. Includes the most recent estimates of the population in five-year age groups; numbers (and some rates) of births, deaths, infant deaths, interstate and overseas movements.

Causes of Death, Australia, 2006 (cat no. 3303.0)

Presents statistics on the number of deaths by state or territory of Australia, sex, selected age groups, and cause of death classified to the World Health Organisation's International Classification of Diseases (ICD).

Complete Set of Australian Social Atlases (cat. no. 2030.0)

The Social Atlas series consists of a separate publication for each state and territory that presents colour maps that highlight key characteristics of the population in each capital city and selected regional areas. Topics included in each atlas include: population, cultural diversity, education, labour force, income, families, households and dwellings.
The Atlases may be purchased as a complete set or individually for each state and territory and are also available as free downloads from the ABS website.

The Health and Welfare of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, 2008 (cat no. 4704.0)

This publication provides a comprehensive picture of the health and welfare of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. Information about health and welfare of Indigenous children and young people is presented under many of the topics covered in the report which include: Education and Health, Mothers and Children, Health Status, Health Risk Factors and Community Services.

Recorded Crime - Victims, Australia, 2007 (cat. no. 4510.0)

Presents national crime statistics relating to victims of a selected range of offences that have been recorded by police. Includes statistics on child and youth victims of crime.
