VICTORIA

  • In 2015-16, the ten SA2s with the largest population increases in Victoria were all within Greater Melbourne. The outer northern SA2 of South Morang, and Cranbourne East in Melbourne's outer south-east, had the largest growth, both increasing by 5,000 people. Large growth also occurred in Craigieburn - Mickleham (4,500) in the outer north, and Point Cook (3,500) on the south-west coast.
  • Greater Melbourne also contained the ten fastest-growing SA2s in Victoria. Cranbourne East was the fastest growing (26%), followed by Beaconsfield - Officer (15%) in Melbourne's outer south-east, Truganina (14%) in the outer west, Docklands (13%) in the inner city and Laverton (12%) in the outer south-west.
  • Of the SA2s outside of Greater Melbourne, those with the largest growth were Grovedale (1,600 people), a suburb of Geelong, Ocean Grove - Barwon Heads (1,100) and Torquay (700), both on the Bellarine Peninsula near Geelong, and Alfredton (610), a suburb of Ballarat. The SA2s with the fastest growth were Grovedale (7.0%), Alfredton (5.9%) and Ocean Grove - Barwon Heads (4.9%).
