NEW SOUTH WALES

  • From June 2006 to June 2016, the ten SA2s with the largest population increases in New South Wales were all within Greater Sydney. The outer north-west SA2 of Parklea - Kellyville Ridge had the largest growth in terms of absolute numbers, increasing by 22,200 to reach 33,700 people. Large growth also occurred in the inner-city SA2 of Waterloo - Beaconsfield (up by 17,800 people) and Concord West - North Strathfield (13,100) in Sydney's inner west.
  • Greater Sydney also contained nine of the ten fastest-growing SA2s (those with the strongest growth rate) in New South Wales. Cobbitty - Leppington, in Sydney's south-west, was the fastest-growing SA2 (200%) between 2006 and 2016. This was followed by Parklea - Kellyville Ridge (190%), Homebush Bay - Silverwater (110%) and Waterloo - Beaconsfield (100%).
  • Of the SA2s outside of Greater Sydney, those with the largest growth were Maitland - West (6,800) in the Hunter Valley and Shellharbour - Flinders (6,000) in the Illawarra region. The SA2s with the fastest growth were Maitland (65%) and Shellharbour - Flinders (52%).
