Australian Wine and Grape Industry, 2007 (cat. no. 1329.0)
Contains information on: area of vines and production of grapes by region; wine production and grapes crushed by region; structure of the wine manufacturing industry; inventories of wine owned by winemakers at 30 June; brandy and grape spirit production; domestic wine sales; exports and imports of wine; price indexes of grapes and wine; consumption of wine; and world comparisons.

Information Paper: Changes to International Trade Statistics, July 2008, 2007 to 2008 (First Issue) (cat. no. 5368.0.55.009)
The United Nations has issued an update to the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) which the ABS will implement from the July 2008 reference month. This information paper summarises changes that will be made to Australian import and export statistics presented according to the SITC.

Principal Agricultural Commodities, Australia, Preliminary, 2006-07 (cat. no. 7111.0)
This publication contains preliminary estimates of principal agricultural commodities and livestock numbers for the 2006-07 season and comparative data for the previous year. The data are based on a response rate of 71% from the 2006-07 Agricultural Survey. More comprehensive and updated estimates for the 2006-07 season will be published in March 2008 in Agricultural Commodities, Australia (cat. no. 7121.0).

Agricultural Commodities: Small Area Data, Australia, 2000-01 (First Issue) (cat. no. 7125.0)
A useful electronic product enabling clients to compare agricultural commodities across small geographic areas within each state. It contains annual estimates for all commodities for Statistical Divisions (SD) and five-yearly Agricultural Census data for selected commodities for Statistical Local Areas (SLA). Commodities include livestock numbers and crop and horticulture production.

Selected Characteristics of Australian Business, 2005-06 (First Issue) (cat. no. 8167.0)
This release presents summary business characteristics data for a selection of topics including nature of business ownership, cooperative/franchising arrangements, performance measures, barriers, government financial assistance, finance sought, markets and competition.

ENVIRONMENTAL RELEASES

Environmental Issues: People’s Views and Practices, Mar, 2007 (cat. no. 4602.0)
This publication presents information on environmental behaviour and practices of Australian households. Three environmental themes are rotated over three years: energy use and conservation, waste management and transport use, and water use and conservation. Data are collected from households and individuals via the ABS' monthly population survey. The 2007 edition focuses on water use and conservation. It presents data on sources of water in dwellings, the use of water and water saving measures used in households. Data on use of rainwater tanks and greywater are also included.

Natural Resource Management on Australian Farms, 2004-05 (cat. no. 4620.0)
This publication presents estimates compiled from the Australian Bureau of Statistics' first dedicated Natural Resource Management (NRM) survey. The survey asked farmers to identify the extent and type of NRM issues present on their land and the activities they undertook to prevent or manage them. It also asked farmers to identify areas affected and managed within the five priority NRM topics, and provide details of the labour and financial costs associated with activities undertaken. The results provide an important perspective into NRM activities and issues occurring on Australian farms during 2004-05, and because they are based on the perception of farmers, may differ from scientific or satellite assessment.

Sports and Physical Recreation: A Statistical Overview, Australia, 2008 (Edition 1) (cat. no. 4156.0)
Provides a statistical overview of sports and physical recreation in Australia. Topics covered include output of the sports and physical recreation sector, employment in sports and physical recreation, government outlays on recreation, international trade in sports and physical recreation goods, attendances at sporting events, and participation in sports and physical recreation activities.

Adult Learning, Australia, 2006-07 (First Issue) (cat. no. 4229.0)
This publication presents data on aspects of adult learning. There is ongoing interest in the concept of lifelong learning and the importance of 'continuing education and training' as a measure of human capital. The concept for adult learning is taken from an international survey which focuses on measuring three categories of learning: formal learning, non-formal learning and informal learning.

Overweight and Obesity in Adults, Australia, 2004-05 (First Issue) (cat. no. 4719.0)
This publication contains information on overweight and obesity in adult Australians. Using body mass index (BMI) from the ABS National Health Surveys (1989, 1995, 2001 and 2004-05), overweight and obesity trends over time, risk factors and coexisting chronic diseases are examined. Also included are recent health related actions taken by overweight and obese people.

Education and Work, Australia, May 2007 (cat. no. 6227.0)
This publication provides selected information on participation in education, highest educational attainment, transition from education to work and current labour force and demographic characteristics for the civilian population aged 15-64 years.

Retirement and Retirement Intentions, Australia, Jul 2006 to Jun 2007 (cat. no. 6238.0)
This publication presents information on retirement for people aged 45 years and over. For those who are still in the labour force, information is available about current job and retirement intentions. For those people who are not in the labour force, data items include age at retirement; reason retired; income sources in retirement, and use of any lump sum payments.

Barriers and Incentives to Labour Force Participation, Australia, Jul 2006 to Jun 2007 (cat. no. 6239.0)
Provides information about people who are 18 years and over who are unemployed, not in the labour force or worked less than 16 hours. Data from this survey are used to obtain a better understanding of the factors that influence people to join or leave the labour force. By knowing the barriers people have to wanting, finding or taking up (more) employment a range of incentives to labour force participation can be indirectly identified. Estimates can be cross-classified by demographics such as state, sex, age, marital status and country of birth, as well as labour force characteristics.

Household Use of Information Technology, Australia, 2006-07 (cat. no. 8146.0)
This publication presents results compiled from household use of information technology (HUIT) data collected from the Multi-Purpose Household Survey (MPHS) for 2006-07. Contents include characteristics of households with computer or internet access, use of the internet, type of internet connection and type of technology used for broadband internet access and international comparisons.
