NEW WAYS TO FIND MIGRANT STATISTICAL SOURCESNEW WAYS TO FIND MIGRANT STATISTICAL SOURCES

The ABS National Migrant Statistics Unit (NMSU) recently released a Guide to Migrant Statistical Sources, 2007 (ABS cat. no. 3414.0). The Guide is a useful way of finding and accessing relevant sources of data on migrants and ethnicity. It contains information on almost 100 data collections, including a wide range of ABS surveys as well as data sourced from academic institutions, federal and state government departments.

These data sources have been brought together in one place so they can be easily searched by title or topic. A brief overview of each data collection is provided, together with how to access the data or obtain more information.

The Guide will be updated on a regular basis and we are keen to include additional sources. If you are aware of other migrant related data sources that may be of interest, please email the information to: migrant.statistics.unit@abs.gov.au.

New products to be produced by the NMSU will be promoted through the ABS Migrant and Ethnicity theme page, as well as the half yearly electronic newsletter Migrant Statistics News.

If you need assistance finding migrant and ethnicity statistical information, please contact the National Information and Referrals Service on 1300 135 070 or email client.services@abs.gov.au.
