INCOME
Free-standing day hospital facilities received $812 million in income during 2010-11, an 8.8% increase from 2009-10. Free-standing day hospitals received 94.9% of their total revenue as patient revenue in 2010-11, down from 96.4% in 2009-10.
The average income per Free-standing day hospital in 2010-11 was $2.586 million. This varied from $1,584 million per Plastic and cosmetic surgery establishment to $3,406 million per Ophthalmic surgery hospital.
The proportion of total income received as patient income varied from 93.1% of all income in Specialist Endoscopy centres to 97.4% of all income in Plastic and cosmetic surgery institutions.

The largest increases in total income in 2010-11 occurred in Western Australia (12.6%), and the three smallest states and territories (12.1%), while the smallest increase occurred in Queensland (0.7%). Income per hospital ranged from $2.058 million in Victoria to $3.061 million in Queensland, while patient income as a proportion of total income ranged from 91.3% in Victoria to 99.3% in Western Australia.
