SUBDIVISION 49 - AIR AND SPACE TRANSPORT

Employment in the Air and Space Transport industry subdivision at end June 2011 was 41,000 persons.

The Air and Space Transport industry subdivision generated Total income of $21.0b. The main source of income was Income from transport services, accounting for 85.1% ($17.8b) of Total income.

Total expenses of the Air and Space Transport industry subdivision amounted to $20.3b during the 2010-11 financial year. The largest expense items being Total transport related expenses ($9.6b or 47.6% of Total expenses), which was dominated by Air transport running expenses of $7.8b, and Labour costs ($4.1b or 20.4% of Total expenses). Fuels and gas expenses to power air transport of $4.9b was the main component (63.4%) of Air transport running expenses.
