Female victims were more likely than male victims to have a disability due to a mental health condition. Approximately 15.2% of females who had been a victim of physical or threatened assault and/or actual or attempted break-in also had a disability due to a mental health condition; nearly double the proportion of male victims who had a disability due to a mental health condition (8.2%). This did not reflect the trend in the general population, where the proportion of females and males with a disability due to a mental health condition was similar (7.0% and 5.9% respectively).

When comparing the prevalence of disability due to a mental health condition between persons that had been victims and those who had not, female victims (15.2%) were significantly more likely to have a disability due to a mental health condition than females who were not victims (5.6%). For males, the prevalence of disability due to a mental health condition for victims and non-victims was 8.2% and 5.4% respectively. This difference was not statistically significant.
