This group covers R&D directed towards climate and climate change. For the purpose of the classification, climate refers to the long term average condition of the weather in a given area.
It includes:

• climate and climate patterns;
• strategies to mitigate and adapt to climate change, including greenhouse gas sequestration;
• social impacts of climate change and climate change mitigation strategies;
• adaptation of ecosystems to climatic changes; and
• effects of climate change at global and at regional levels in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific region.
