At 30 June 2007, the Victorian meat cattle herd stood at 2.6 million, with the highest numbers in the Western District and Goulburn Statistical Divisions.

At 30 June 2007, most meat cattle in Victoria were found in the Western District Statistical Division (661,000). This was followed by the Ovens-Murray Statistical Division with 396,000 and Goulburn Statistical Division with 360,000.
