WELCOME FROM THE DIRECTOR OF MINING STATISTICS


Welcome to this new edition of the ABS mining statistics newsletter. This newsletter presents information on recent mining industry statistics and related issues. It describes ABS work in this area, and advises on recent and forthcoming publications.

This issue also highlights the release of the Australian Industry, 2008-09 (cat. no. 8155.0) which contains the latest Mining Industry estimates from the Economic Activity Survey (EAS) for employment; income; expenses; industry value added; operating profit before tax; capital expenditure, along with state/territory government information about mineral production in Australia.
