This release presents key indicators on the incidence of innovation and related practices by Australian businesses, as collected by the 2010-11 Business Characteristics Survey (BCS). The data presented comprises: types of innovation; barriers to and drivers of innovation; sources of ideas for innovation; innovation-active businesses and collaboration; benefits to the business by innovating; innovation-active businesses and intellectual property; sources of development and degree of novelty of innovations; types of innovation-related expenditure; and government financial assistance for innovation. Detailed innovation data are collected biennially with core indicators available each year.
