This group covers R&D directed towards improving the activities associated with turning a project sketch plan into detailed architectural and engineering designs and specifications.
It includes:

  • quantity surveying;
  • design aimed at reducing the energy needs of the finished building; and
  • development of building regulations and design codes.
This group has five objectives:
    870201 Civil Construction Design
    870202 Commercial Construction Design
    870203 Industrial Construction Design
    870204 Residential Construction Design
    870299 Construction Design not elsewhere classified

    Exclusions:
    a) Energy conservation and efficiency other than design aimed at reducing the energy needs of finished buildings is included in Group 8507 Energy Conservation and Efficiency.
