This article provides a brief overview of the prevalence, risk factors, hospitalisations and trends in morbidity for cardiovascular disease in Australia principally using data drawn from the National Health Survey (NHS) 2004-05. Some data is also provided on specific cardiovascular conditions and a subset of cardiovascular conditions referred to in this article as heart, stroke and vascular conditions.
