This paper reports on the findings of one of the quality studies conducted as part of the Census Data Enhancement project. The Indigenous Mortality Quality Study looks at the levels and consistency of Indigenous identification between the 2006 Census and Death registrations. The paper discusses some of the issues encountered in conducting the analysis, the results of the analysis and recommedations for future work in this area.

Census Data Enhancement is looking at ways to create a statistical longitudinal census dataset using data from the 2006 Census and subsequent Census. The project has included several quality studies which use the 2006 Census data linked with subject matter data to analyse specific data quality issues.
