This snapshot presents an overview of the prevalence of overweight and obesity among adults in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. It also explores the relationship between this health risk factor and other selected behavioural and environmental indicators, and provides non-Indigenous comparisons where relevant. Data are mainly drawn from the 2004-05 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Survey (NATSIHS) and 2004-05 National Health Survey (NHS).
