ABOUT THIS PUBLICATION
This publication presents results from the ABS Water Use and Conservation Survey conducted in March 2013. The Survey collected a range of information about water usage and water conservation practices of Australian households. It covers a range of topics including household water sources, water usage, rainwater tanks and water saving practices inside and outside the dwelling.
Tables of data estimates and their corresponding relative standard errors are presented in a Data Cube (spreadsheet format) in the Downloads tab.
Data on water use and conservation is collected every three years. Previous data were collected and published in 2010, 2007, 2004, 2001, 1998 and 1994. Where appropriate, 2010 and 2007 data have been included in this publication to enable comparisons over time. When comparing 2013 with 2010 and 2007 estimates, users should be aware that some differences in the data may be due to a change in survey content or a change in collection methodology. See paragraph 18 of the Explanatory Notes for further information.
As estimates have been rounded, discrepancies may occur between sums of the component items and totals. Published proportions are calculated prior to rounding the estimates and therefore some discrepancy may occur between these proportions and those that are calculated from the rounded estimates.
