19/09/2014 - This release contains replacement content to correct a typographic error on the Carers Characteristics page. The All persons estimates for Table 34 in the Australian Capital Territory data cube have also been corrected due to the erroneous inclusion of additional categories and misalignment of data in the previously published table. The largest impact of this error was on the estimates for Moderate and Mild core activity limitation.
The Data Item List has been updated to include income decile boundaries.
17/04/2014 - Additional information. Eight data cubes have been released, which represent data for each Australian State and Territory, collected from the 2012 Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers. These data cubes contain tables that are closely aligned to those in the national Disability, Older persons and Carer data cubes re-released on 16/04/2014. The tables focus on specific aspects of disability, ageing and caring, disseminated at the State and Territory level. The quantity and structure of tables released in each data cube is dependent on the quality of estimates.
16/04/2014 - Re-release of information. The data cubes for Disability tables and Carer tables have been re-released to correct components of several tables, as follows. Table 43 has been re-released to correct Age of main recipient of care estimates for Male primary carers, Female primary carers and All primary carers totals for the 0-64 years and 65 years and over categories. This is due to incorrect coding resulting in over-estimation of those aged 65 years and over and under-estimation of those aged 0-64 years. The correction has had the largest impact on the estimates for Female primary carers and All primary carers by age of recipient. The ABS advise that the difference between the previously published estimates and the corrected estimates are not statistically significant, but users should note that the difference is relatively large and equates to an estimate of 29,000 persons at the total level. The impact of the correction on the proportions components of the table is considered minor. Tables 40, 41, 42, 46 and 47 have been re-released to correct all Average weekly hours spent caring estimates and proportions provided in these tables. Incorrect derivation of this item resulted in small over-estimation of average weekly hours spent caring for the main recipient of care. The largest impact of correction is seen in estimate tables, but all corrections are within the bounds of error of the corrected data and considered minor. Carers sections of the publication commentary have been affected by correction to these tables. The following commentary pages have been re-released as a consequence, with minor changes to proportions data referenced therein: Carers - Key Findings, Carers - Employment and Income, Carers - Social and Community Participation. Tables 8, 9 and 37 have been re-released to correct the Relative Standard Errors (RSEs) for Median gross personal income per week ($) and for Median hours usually worked each week. Tables 9 and 37 have also had the RSEs corrected for Unemployment rate (%) and Participation rate (%). These RSE corrections are considered minor and estimates for these items remain unchanged. The data item list has been re-released to correct minor errors with regard to data item labels and data item classifications.
