Provides national time series estimates of available for and apparent consumption of alcoholic beverages, based on excise, import and sales data in Australia, from 1944-45 to 2008-09. Data is provided on the quantity of pure alcohol available for consumption from beer, wine, spirits and, more recently, ready to drink (pre-mixed) beverages. Also included is data and estimates for the total volume of beer and wine available for consumption. Per capita consumption data in this publication is based on the estimated resident population of Australia, aged 15 years and over. The publication does not incorporate an estimate of the actual amount consumed or take into account factors such as waste and storage or cooking.
