Population Projections and Backcast Estimates for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Population

Reverse survived estimates (2001-2010) by state/territory based on the 2011 Census and forward projections will be released in Population Estimates and Projections, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians, 2001-2026 (cat. no. 3238.0) in the first half of 2014. These estimates will be made available for state/territory, Remoteness Area and Indigenous Regions, by age and sex.

These projections and backcast estimates are produced once every five years based on the most recent Census and Census Post Enumeration Survey (PES) results and assumptions..
