Describes the indexes for summarising the socio-economic profile of population by areas and illustrates their possible uses. Indexes are derived from the 2006 Census to rank Census Collection Districts, Postal Areas, Local Government Areas, and Statistical Local Areas by summarising a wide range of socio-economic characteristics. Examples of variables used are income, education, occupation and housing conditions.
