Australian Historical Population Statistics has been restructured for the 2008 update and now consists of 13 separate data cubes, each focussing on a particular demographic topic.

Various changes in concepts, sources and methods through time may effect the consistency of the data, and, where applicable, important changes have been noted in the footnotes contained in the individual spreadsheets.

At the time of publication these data cubes contained the most recently published ABS data. More up-to-date data may be available from the ABS website – please see the individual ABS Demography publications listed as sources at the bottom of each spreadsheet.

Please note that data cubes 2 (Indigenous population) and 3 (Population distribution) are scheduled for release during September 2008 due to the publication of relevant ABS data in August.
