The following extended table shows that the Mersey-Lyell Region had the largest area of rateable land used for quarrying and mining in Tasmania (19,965 hectares), largely due to the large area of land used for mining and quarrying in the West Coast local government area (12,477 hectares).

The West Coast local government area had the smallest area of land used for primary production in the Mersey-Lyell Region (3,720 hectares).
